Company Recognized in the Enterprise Storage System Software Category

Cupertino, Calif., January 15, 2014: CloudByte, the first company to provide dynamically selectable storage performance on industry-standard hardware, announced today that it has been named a finalist for the Storage Magazine and Product of the Year 2013 in the Enterprise Storage System Software category. Out of the numerous entries submitted by both traditional and startup storage vendors, only 12 finalists made the cut in the software category.

“Cloud service providers understand that they have to deploy a different type of storage to provide their customers with services tailored to their individual needs as viable alternatives to leading service providers such as Amazon,” said Greg Goelz, CloudByte CEO. “We are very pleased to enable cloud service providers to do just that with the help of CloudByte’s storage software. This new industry recognition we are announcing today is a validation of our efforts. It also shows the market demand for software solutions that leverage the business economics of industry-standard components for low cost, enterprise-grade storage with dynamic flexibility and scalability, as well as what CSPs have been asking for: guaranteed performance for each customer or application.”

The judges describe CloudByte’s newly upgraded software, ElastiStor 1.2, as “software that monitors and adjusts IOPS, throughput and latency to let administrators tailor performance by application or tenant. The software can run on commodity hardware and leverage the ZFS file system to create a unified storage pool for file, block and JBOD storage. Features include support for hybrid storage platforms, including all-solid-state drive (SSD) pools and data migration from other ZFS-based vendors through ElastiStor’s management console.”

CloudByte also announced last month that the company has been shortlisted for the 2013/2014 Cloud Awards Program in two categories:
